Heartstart in UIV
On 18th June, Upper IV successfully completed a 2 hour basic first aid course run by the British Heart Foundation which taught them how to deal with several emergency situations. The course includes dealing with an injured but conscious casualty, with an unconscious casualty who may or may not be breathing, how to deal with a suspected heart attack and how to deal with a choking or seriously bleeding casualty. Knowing what to do when someone has a cardiac arrest is important. If you can do CPR you can buy the time needed for professional help to arrive.
