FIII Sponsored silence
Form III held a sponsored silence to raise money for their chosen charity, ‘Hive Action’. The event was inspired by their study of ‘The Vikings’ and their merciless attacks on the monasteries in the North East. Most of the holy orders were silent and the monks developed a range of signals which negated the need for speech. Even in the face of attack, not a sound was uttered! Form III participated in a ’silent’ numeracy lesson. Neither Form III nor their teacher spoke a word or made a sound for a full hour, but communicated problems and answers to each other by the use of signs and individual chalk boards. They are pictured here after receiving the Kindness Cup. Their efforts will buy 17 bee hives and 1 goat for a village in Africa.
