Hockey Match

On Friday 8th October, UIV played their first hockey match against Heathfield School. It was decided that the first ten minutes of the match should be a practice so both teams would understand the rules clearly.

The match finally started with The Gleddings showing excellent stick work and control of the ball. Alex Scoley played goalkeeper for the very first time, fully equipped with helmet and padding and he did not let a goal pass him.

The Gleddings won 2-0. Congratulations to all players.

Cookery club

With summer here at last, we combined juicy peaches and blueberries with a little sugar before adding a cobbler topping and baking.  Delicious!

Harvesting the radishes

The weather has been very kind to our vegetable plot and gardens-plenty of rain and long hot sunny days. The children had great fun harvesting the radishes. The first crop harvested was the Cherry Belle variety and the children had over 100 radishes ready to go to Chef Lizzie for the salad bar. Now we are waiting for our French Breakfast variety. Hopefully we can harvest them before we break up; if not, then we can harvest them in the first week of holiday school along with our carrots.
