On Thursday 7th July, some members of Form III , LIV, MIV and UIV took part in The Sowerby Bridge Schools’ Athletics Competition.

We had a wonderful morning of athletics with all children giving 100% in their throwing, running or jumping event. Many of our children gained bronze, silver or gold medals. We were particularly successful in the relay races .Overall we gained 3rd place.

Congratulations to all children who took part.

On Wednesday 29th June, fifteen of our Form II and Form III children took part in The Calderdale Schools’ Gymnastics display.

The children looked fabulous in their coloured T-shirts and performed the sequence brilliantly.

On Friday 25^th March, UIV took part in the coloured team netball tournament. All children participated with great enthusiasm and the standard of play was excellent.

Congratulations go to the winning team, which was the Red team.

MIV finished off their dance unit of different styles of dancing, with a visit from Miss Ling. She demonstrated dances from different regions of China.

All children had the chance to take part and learn some Chinese dancing.

During their dance lessons MIV have been working on different styles of dance. They started with a Tudor dance and then moved on to Spanish dancing. Hip Hop was to prove very popular and they finished off with disco dancing. All children worked really hard during the lessons and showed great style and movement.

On Tuesday 22nd June pupils from LIV, MIV and UIV took part in the Sowerby Bridge Schools’ Athletics Competition at Spring Hall.

All children participated with skill and determination in the running, throwing and jumping events. A special mention must be given to the following children who gained medals:

James Cooper -1st in the 80m and 2nd in the 400m.

Marisa Turner – 2nd in the 80m and 2nd in the 150m.

Charlie Nendick - 3rd in the 150m.

The LIV girls’ and boys’ relay teams who both came 2nd.

Ruby O’Hare - 3rd in the rounders ball throw.

India Barraclough – 2nd in the rounders ball throw.

On June 15th, the whole school took part in Sports Day. The children started the afternoon by demonstrating The Gleddings’ annual dance choreographed by Mrs McHugh and Miss Angela. The weather was kind to us and everyone enjoyed the fun races.  Even the parents and younger siblings had a chance to compete.

At the end of the afternoon the parents joined their children for a repeat of the dance on the all weather pitch before enjoying well deserved ice lollies, cakes and drinks.
