Going For Gold in the Garden

To celebrate our day of WOW! Sport – The Gleddings 2012 Olympic Games (June 27^th) we have planted up one of the raised beds in the garden area like the Olympic flag.

Here’s how we did it:

Blue – light blue compact Lobelia.

Black – a mix of ‘Pure Violet’ Pansies and ‘Bowle’s Black’ Alpine Violas.

Red – red compact Lobelia.

Yellow – yellow African Marigolds.

Green – ‘Little Gem’ Lettuce.

We’ve sown Alyssum, ‘Carpet of Snow’, to give us the white background.

We just managed to get it finished before the heavens opened and did our watering for us!

Fingers crossed that the slugs don’t get too hungry – we might need a trip down Diagon Alley for some Flesh Eating Slug Repellent!

As part of their ‘thinking’ programme, Mrs Wilson challenged the children in Middle IV to make an animal from cardboard boxes. The results were spectacular!

Middle IV’s French Production

Middle IV danced and sang their way through Thursday afternoon (May 10^th) when they performed ‘La Chanson du Retour’, a musical in French, for an audience of parents and grandparents.

The performance told the story of Lea, whose obsession with computer games sucks her into a series of magical worlds. Eventually she is returned to her own world, but only once she has come to appreciate the value of friendship and teamwork.

Middle IV children worked together extremely well and enjoyed the challenge of producing a polished and thoroughly entertaining performance. Well done to all our young stars!

Form III’s French Production

Over the last few months, the children in Form III have been playing games and singing songs with a little French clown called ZoZo, who travels in a hot air balloon with his cat, Moustique, and Fleur, the flower who lives in his hat.

On Thursday 3^rd May, they gave a performance of ‘ZoZo’s French Party’ for an appreciative audience of parents and grandparents. The children had worked hard to remember all their words and gave a confident and enthusiastic performance. It was a lot of fun for everyone!

The children in Form III have been learning all about Norman castles as part of their history topic and over Easter they all spent lots of time making their own! I think you will agree that they all look fantastic.
