We aim to make our children as literate and numerate as possible but we aim for MUCH MORE. When children have mastered the basic mechanics of reading, writing, computation and recall of facts we need to extend our teaching and learning to help our pupils Additionally, we are TOTALLY committed to encouraging all of our children to THINK. The reasoning and thinking skill work - which we consider to be very important from an early age, is now being taken very seriously by British Universities, seven of which will be piloting a reasoning and thinking skills entrance exam called the UniTEST this year. As part of the childrens' THINK! work in 2012 they will apply knowledge and skill in three WOW days to work out HOW?, WHY?, and most importantly, WHAT IF?
