L’ Ecole Sacre-Coeur in Meyzieu

THE Gleddings Preparatory School, Halifax, has been ranked in the top 50 Independent Preparatory Schools for the fourth year in a row.
The league table in a Sunday newspaper is based on the results of Standard Attainment Tests for 11-year-olds.
The school is also the highest ranked Preparatory School in Yorkshire, based on Level 5 test results, calculated over a three-year period.

Boy Writing What Our Parents Say

"We are so very grateful for all of your wonderful support and encouragement through Williams early years in school. We have always found you give an excellent service."

Mr and Mrs Morrison

Curriculum Information > Foundation Stage

The Foundation Stage gives our 3 to 5 year old children the most positive start to their school life in a happy, busy and caring environment. Nursery and Reception class children come to school knowing that each day will bring new exciting things to do and learn. The wide range of 'hands on' practical activities help them to develop enquiring minds and inspire a thirst to explore new learning.

Play-based learning

Whilst playing and having fun, the children are acquiring the skills, knowledge and positive attitudes that are so important for their future success. On a typical day you might find us building giant models, painting self-portraits or making letters of the alphabet from salt dough. Whilst on a summer's day we could be planting seeds in our Nursery garden or going on a Bear Hunt before enjoying a Teddy Bears' Picnic!

Literacy skills

By the Reception year (Lower I), children will be learning to read and write independently. Their independence, concentration and perseverance will have increased to enable them to enjoy a slightly more structured, but equally exciting day.

Giving their very best

From joining us in Nursery children also learn the importance of respecting and playing fairly with others, behaving well and always giving their very best in all that they do.

By the end of the Foundation Stage all of our children have become happy and confident learners ready to enjoy the rest of their school life at The Gleddings.
