L’ Ecole Sacre-Coeur in Meyzieu

THE Gleddings Preparatory School, Halifax, has been ranked in the top 50 Independent Preparatory Schools for the fourth year in a row.
The league table in a Sunday newspaper is based on the results of Standard Attainment Tests for 11-year-olds.
The school is also the highest ranked Preparatory School in Yorkshire, based on Level 5 test results, calculated over a three-year period.

Art What Our Parents Say

"I asked my son what he thinks about school, he said, 'I love it and never, ever want to leave!'"

Mrs Hall

Curriculum Information > Art and Design

"Art and design is not just a subject to learn but an activity that you can practise with your hands, your eyes, your whole personality."

Quentin Blake
Children's Laureate

Hands on practice

I aim for children to enjoy and share my enthusiasm for Art and Design by participating in a wide range of 'hands on' practical activities.

Children are able to develop in confidence and to improve their techniques. They also learn to respect the materials, tools and resources that they explore.

Understanding art

We explore the work of artists, craftspeople and designers of different cultures. Children develop an appreciation of their own work and that of others. They also learn the importance of art, craft and design throughout history and around the world.

Creativity and imagination are uniquely stimulated through Art and Design and children develop an understanding of colour, shape, space, pattern and texture so that they can communicate what they see, feel and think.

Art and Design provides the opportunity to ask and answer questions, to make thoughtful judgements and to make practical decisions.
