L’ Ecole Sacre-Coeur in Meyzieu

THE Gleddings Preparatory School, Halifax, has been ranked in the top 50 Independent Preparatory Schools for the fourth year in a row.
The league table in a Sunday newspaper is based on the results of Standard Attainment Tests for 11-year-olds.
The school is also the highest ranked Preparatory School in Yorkshire, based on Level 5 test results, calculated over a three-year period.

Musicians What Our Parents Say

"My family and I are very happy with the school. You are doing a very good job and I cannot think of anything that you could improve upon."

Mr and Mrs Reed

Curriculum Information > Music

Music plays a very important role in life at The Gleddings School. We aim to give all of our children an enjoyment of music in its widest sense. This is achieved by hard work and a knowledge of the basic skills required to make music a life enhancing experience. We hope that our children will continue their music after leaving The Gleddings.

Choral music and specialist instrumental tuition

All children take part in choral music and approximately one third of children have instrumental lessons with visiting instrumental specialists. Piano, guitar, violin, flute, clarinet, percussion and other tuition is offered as required. There is a school orchestra, bell-ringing group, string group and all children from Year 3 onwards play the recorder.

Visits are made to concerts given by The Halle and Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras, as well as afternoons at Square Chapel Centre for the Arts.

We know that music helps our children to gain self-confidence, interact socially with their peers and other age groups and develop their creativity, which in turn helps their progress in other areas of the curriculum.
